Momma

"Momma" coming from the mouth of my 8 month old son is the best thing I've ever heard anyone say.  "Momma" coming from the mouth of my 8 month old son is the worst thing I've ever heard when he's standing in his crib at night crying and calling for me.  How can such a little person bring so much joy yet break my heart with one tiny word?

Not only is Elias saying momma now, he also says dadda, hi, signs more and milk.  He is filling our lives up with so much laughter and happiness.  We went to the zoo this weekend and loved looking at all the animals and playing on the play ground.  Adam and I used to argue over who had to take care of him and now we are arguing over who gets to take care of him.  Every Sunday morning we call dibs on who gets to carry him into church or who gets to push him in the cart.  His chubby cheeks are irresistible.

I wonna be a Cowboy Baby...

Meet Skylar.  Mom and Dad added to their family and we took Elias to meet the newest member.  He loved being on the farm, seeing the chickens, dogs, cats and mostly the horses.  Soon he'll have chaps and spurs to go with his hat and boots.  But for now he'll have to stick with training wheels and ride with Grandma.

"Quit taking pictures and get back to work, slackers!!!!!"

Off to Grandma's

7:15am peep my eyes open to Adam's voice saying he wants to leave by 8:00 for a visit to his parents house.  How many times do I have to explain that we have a baby?  What part of getting a baby fed, dressed and the car packed, (not to mention getting myself ready) sounds like it could be done in 45 minutes?  I close my eyes again.  Fine I'll at least try to get ready.  I mumble to Adam that he has to get Elias ready and the car packed thinking this will solve the problem.  Adam doesn't even know what Elias eats for breakfast so he'll have to give in.  I get in the shower and to my surprise Elias has been fed, changed, and is ready to go.  *note to self: Adam does know how take care of our son so he can't use that excuse anymore.

8:20 packed in the car heading to PA

8:45 Elias is hungry.  Some how with a crying baby in the back seat I manage to juggle pumping and eating my breakfast.  Dang, there's a red light and a school bus right next us.  Maybe this will be a good lesson about not having sex.  Nevermind, it's Saturday and the bus is empty.

9:00  Climb into the backseat to give Elias a bottle.  Adam goes around a turn and all the bags in the back fall on Riley.  Prop the bottle so I can save the dog

9:15 Something smells bad.  Pull off to change a poopy diaper.  Thinking it will save time I hand Elias to Adam in the front seat who changes him in his lap. Elias's head beeps the horn and little hands try to grab everything. As I'm pulling out one final wipe I see the new water fountain Elias installed. With pee dripping down the center console I realize I didn't put extra clothes in the diaper bag. After assess the damage I decide I need to dig clean clothes out of the back.  With a naked baby in the front seat on the side of the highway I'm hanging over the back seat pulling clothes out trying to find something for him to wear.  Why did I pack all the clothes on the bottom?

9:45  Elais is dressed, buckled in and we pull back onto the highway.  With an ornery grin Elias falls asleep.

Lesson: next time just get out of the car to change the diaper.

7

Almost 7 months ago we began a new chapter in our lives.  One that has proven to be the biggest change so far.  I never thought I could love something as much as I have grown to love my son.  All the years of dreaming of myself as a wife and mother have come true.  If I didn't have anything else in life I would sill have all that I need.  Elias is becoming such a fun little boy with a curious personality.  Our lives will not lack humor as long as he is around.  The other morning as he choked on a piece of toast I asked if he was okay and he shook his head no and then picked up an other piece and stuck it in his ear.  I love Boogy Bear.   I love watching him explore his own hands, feet and ears, I love as he learns how his toys work,  I love as he attempts to crawl, I love holding him when he's sleeping as his hand rests on my cheek.  My love grows with each giggle and smile.  I've never loved my husband in the way that I do when I watch him play with Elias.  I love living in my dream and loving each second.
